I honey this serial. Vocabulary words are illustrated in the margin of every page. Not bad for reluctant readers.
The main character, Derek, is a 12 year sometime boy who struggles with reading. To help with reading comprehension, he illustrates tough words (these are the vocabulary words in the margin of every folio). In this book Derek deals with best friend bug, cyber-bullying, and some family unit drama. No spoiler here - you'll have to read information technology.

After sitting by her during a recent MacMillan dinner at NCTE, I loved getting the inside story well-nigh why her son is the illustrator of these books. Great stick figures that help with the agreement of vocabulary - a technique he used many times himself.

Derek gets a opportunity as a stunt double of a movie. BUt has to article of clothing a wig he doesnt feel to comfy with this especialñy with his friends. Derek is also being embarrased by a video that his friends accept of him. I like this book because its a fun expierence to read about a stunt male child that is in a movie as a stunt boy and at the same fourth dimension having friend problems.

We enjoyed reading this one, although both of my boys made comments near the bullying and how one of the characters could have/should have been reported for posting a mocking video of another on YouTube without their permission. Information technology does show the principal character learning to work through the problems with his best friend, too equally with his own learning of various things, in a realistic, encouraging manner.

While this seems pretty fantastical, there are other story lines: video posted to the net, pet monkey, difficulty with friends, that brand this story enjoyable, funny, informative. Accept y'all heard of a story where a monkey gets kidnaped with a diaper? this book is realistic fiction considering its based on a fake story only tin happen. I loved this book considering information technology had plenty of one-act and action and thats the type of volume i similar and if you like comedy and action this will be a adept book for you. The conflict is person vs person because Derek is fighting through hard times of physical and emotionally aginst another person.

Derek and Matt best friends wanted to ever stay best friend and they both loved parkour. One day Derek was accepted to be a stunt man for a famous player and was on set Matt got mad. So he tried to embarrass him by catching him reading because he wants adept at reading and then everyone at school can run across him Derek besides got a pet monkey named franks and he had to take care of him or he will get taken a way to another owner So every once and a while an inspector comes and checks So the inspector came an extra time because Frank choked on a toy so he came to bank check on frank. But Derek thought they were going to take them so they wanted to hibernate Frank. So Derek and Matt decided to cooperate with each other but swiftly is the person Matt has been talking to when Derek was mad at him. So it was time for Derek to go onto set to be a stunt male child and all all of a sudden he got a call from Matt that swiftly kidnapped his monkey. The theme is life is an take a chance that you cant predict. Why is information technology this considering you wouldnt predict someone will steal someones pet.

The title realates to the book to the volume
because derek was asked to be a stuntman and thats what the championship is my life as a stunt human. Also Derek also loves to do stunts wherever he is and he aslo loves parkour. One major event that changed the charector was when matt post a video almost how derek cant actually read well. That changed the charector alot he was sad mad embaressed and Derek changed alot. The writer builds suspense when Derek gets a phone call from matt saying that his pet monkey was stolden this part is when the author builds the suspense then the climax comes along.

My opinion on this volume is thats information technology was very skillful it was comedy and i dear one-act this book is also activity and these types of books is what i dearest to read especially comedy. I liked the fashion the author helped you understand the volume he would sketch the words that are hard to understand with stick figures.I thought the ending of the volume was nice and calm like many stories terminate everyone cooperates and becomes happy derek gets to keep his monkey even though it got kidnappeded. My favorite office was when Derek got the phone telephone call about frank and everyone at the scene jumpeded into action even the actor he was doing stunts for.

I would charge per unit this volume 5 out of 5 because of how nicely it was written and how funny it was. I would recamend this book for people who beloved comedy action and the diary of a wimpy kids serial and realistic fiction. Too who would ever think that someone would steal someones monkey.

I read the My Life As A... serial considering my 9-year-one-time daughter read them, enjoyed them and recommended them to me. Each of the 3 are enjoyable to differing degrees and for different reasons. All three are narrated by Derek. Derek is your average 12-year-onetime boy. He is basically kind, has a good centre, dreads schoolhouse at the end of summer holiday and oft lacks the power to projection the negative consequences of his imaginative, sometimes well-intentioned, plans.

All three books are brusk, fun, piece of cake reads appropriate for third Form through middle school ages. Like in tone and style to Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Child serial, they work equally well as independent or read-aloud choices. Jake Tashjian provides creative--sometimes inspired--stick drawings of various vocabulary words in the margins of every page. Many of his drawing are intriguing and pb the reader to think about specific words in a new and heady fashion. The fact that the drawings are parallel to--and not instrumental in the progression of--the plot is what sets this serial autonomously from Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

In My Life Every bit a Stuntboy Derek is "discovered" past a movie stuntman equally he and his all-time friend Matt are experimenting with stunts on their skateboards. Derek is offered a short-term job as a stand-in stuntboy for the child actor in a flick. HIs parents allow him to accept provided that: (one) he continues to work on his reading with a tutor; and (2) he shows more responsibility in taking care of Frank, the capuchin monkey they are fostering--since information technology was his thought to become him. What follows is a series of close calls with Frank and a prolonged conflict with his best friend. The climactic monkey rescue will have readers holding their jiff.

Stuntboy has more uneven pacing than the other ii and was the hardest for me to get through. It may work better every bit a read-aloud than an contained choice. It is a worthwhile read due to the unusual discovery within its pages of the word "parkour." First used by Tony, the Stuntman, he tells Derek it means "navigating obstacles." Although used primarily in the context of skateboarding its definition lends itself to Derek's everyday life, and, in turn, to that of the reader. When you see an obstacle before you lot: (one) examine it with your eyes; (2) plan out how you will go effectually it; (iii) picture yourself succeeding; then (four) put your plan into action.
