Was the Greatest Baking Show Cancelled Again
'The Great British Blistering Show's Two Big Problems? Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas
When I think back about this whole flavour of The Great British Blistering Show, I'm tempted to say it was pretty close to perfect. Sure, as a hardcore fan and professional critic, I can get persnickety nearly product choices and judges calls. However, when the dust settled on this flavor, information technology was really one of the best installments of the series ever. One time again, the "Bake Off Bubble" helped the bakers bond like never before. Paul Hollywood tampered down the Hollywood handshakes, rendering them more than heady. And this class of bakers was in a league of their ain.
This season of The Swell British Blistering Show was almost perfect. There is a proverbial elephant in the room, er, tent: hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas. While both are super charismatic and talented comics, it'southward articulate that both hosts are expressionless bored by their gig on The Not bad British Blistering Testify. Fifty-fifty if the duo didn't repeatedly mock the whole thought of working on the show, their incessantly childish hijinks, hyper activity effectually the bakers, and desperate demand for attention proves it's perchance non the best task for them. If Noel and Matt don't want to host The Dandy British Baking Show, and so they should become. And The Great British Baking Evidence should bring in fresh talent that can recapture the kind, considerate vibes of original co-hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.
When The Groovy British Baking Show starting time fabricated its way stateside nearly ten years ago, information technology became an firsthand cult hit thanks to its wild kindness and the chemical science of the hosts and judges assembled. Paul Hollywood was the snarky bad cop to Mary Berry's queenly maternal figure and long-time besties Mel and Sue were as fond of giving bakers pep talks as they were giving chipper fourth dimension callouts. When the show became a global phenomenon, though, Channel iv poached the series from the BBC and Netflix secured the American streaming rights. Mary Drupe, Mel, and Sue refused to follow the bear witness to its new UK domicile and so Prue Leith was asked to supervene upon Mary Berry. The chase for new co-hosts has been a footling scrap less smooth, though.
Sandi Toksvig originally was cast opposite Noel Fielding and they were an incredibly odd "odd couple." Noel Fielding was known for his sweet, absurd, goth sense of sense of humor, while Toksvig had replaced friend Stephen Fry as host of the nerdy panel evidence Q.I.When Matt Lucas replaced Toksvig, it seemed that Noel had finally found a more natural partner. Nonetheless the duo hasn't really been in sync this flavor. Or, at least, they're chemistry doesn't hit the same loftier notes as Mel and Sue's.

Just the real consequence with Noel and Matt is they don't seem to desire to be in the Broil Off tent. No, I'thou serious. How else practise you explain Noel'due south constant digs at the gig? Or the fact that the two need to constantly exist mugging for the photographic camera? They're bored. Plain and uncomplicated. Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas are two loftier-free energy sketch comedy performers. They don't see hosting The Corking British Blistering Show as a comedy task, but a babysitting gig. And neither actually fancy existence the responsible parties in the tent. Both Noel and Matt seem happiest when they are getting in the bakers' means and that'south alarming for everyone.
I like Noel Fielding and I like Matt Lucas, simply I love The Great British Baking Testify. If these two esteemed comic minds can't effigy out how to step back and allow the bakers be the stars of The Nifty British Baking Evidence, it's going to continue to be an effect in seasons to come up. Matt and Noel's obvious ambiguity to the gig is weighing the show down. Worse, information technology's keeping Matt and Noel from other piece of work they might like more.
I would be more skeptical of another Neat British Blistering Show host shake up if I didn't know the British comedy scene wasn't full of warm-hearted comics who might prefer the gig. Sarah Millican, Rose Matefeo, Romesh Ranganathan, Lolly Adefope, James Acaster, Joe Lycett, and Cariad Lloyd are all ascent one-act stars and panel show regulars who could easily slide in to the gig. Those are only some names off the tiptop of my head!
Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas clearly aren't all that psyched about hosting The Dandy British Baking Show. Then why are they still doing it? The Great British Blistering Show should get rid of Noel and Matt and slide in someone who is happy to be at that place and even happier to let the bakers take the spotlight.
